Sample Homework from 1-3

This assignment will be done in class on January 10th as a sample for the students, as we discuss this new program.

January 3rd Homework

The Homework Program

In order to help the kids retain the lessons that we learn, I would like to institute a “homework” program. While this is entirely optional, I hope parents will encourage their child to go through the assignments and answer the few simple questions. I would even suggest that the kids do this on Sunday when the lesson is still fresh in their mind, and so that they can complete it and keep it with their scriptures to return it the following Sunday.

As an incentive for completing the assignments, every week I will ask the students to show me their completed assignments and those that have their assignment with them will get to put a token into our class jar. Once the jar is filled, we will have a class party!

There are 3 ways that each child can get tokens in the class jar (meaning they could put up to 3 tokens in the jar each week):
1. Complete the homework assignment (as discussed above).
2. Share a portion of our lesson at a FHE or any time during the week with your family (there will be directions for this on each homework assignement, along with a place for a parent to sign their name when it is completed).
3. Bring their scriptures to church - specifically the Old Testament this year.

I hope that this will help our class to grow together and also learn a lot this year!

Welcome!

I am so excited to be the Valiant 8 leader again this year! Although technically I was the Valiant 8 teacher last year, I was new to the ward, changed primary classes, and went on vacation - basically I'm grateful for the opportunity to get to know these great kids better!

For those of you who don't know me, my name is Sister Lindsey Laudie. My huband, Mike, and my two children, Amy (3) and Matthew (7 months), moved into the Kettering Ward in July of 09. We had been living in Arizona for 4 1/2 years before that. I am originally from Arizona as well, so Ohio is quite a drastic change, weather-wise at least! My husband and I both attended BYU, where he graduated in Electrical Engineering. Upon his graduation, we moved to Arizona where I transferred to ASU and finished my degree in Accountancy. I am lucky to be a stay-at-home mom, although I do some consulting and tax work for the company I worked for previously in Arizona.

I am so glad to be here in Ohio and can't wait to see what great surprises this new year has to offer! If you ever have any questions, comments, or concerns, please feel free to contact me! Thank you for the opportunity to teach your children this year!
